SETA-funded learnerships, YES Programme placements, and apprenticeships β get paid while you learn a skill.
A learnership is a work-based learning programme that combines theory and practical work experience. You earn an NQF-registered qualification while getting a monthly stipend β all funded by a SETA.
Learnership stipends range from R2,500 to R8,000/month depending on the NQF level and industry. The employer cannot pay less than the legislated minimum learner allowance.
Most learnerships require only a Matric certificate. Some accept Grade 10. They are specifically designed for young South Africans aged 18β35 who are unemployed and want to gain skills.
